ใครที่เคยดู Saving Private Ryan คงรู้จักคำนี้ดี ซึ่งดูจนจบเรื่องแล้วก็ไม่มีใครออกมาเฉลยว่าตกลง FUBAR มันคืออะไร

FUBAR มีที่มาจากหลายๆกระแส บ้างว่ามีมาแต่ครั้งก่อนสงครามโลกครั้งที่สองโน่น

FUBAR เขียนด้วยตัวอักษรตัวใหญ่ทั้งหมด เป็นคำย่อ(acronym ฝรั่งย่อคำไม่เหมือนคนไทยเสียทีเดียว คนไทยใช้ ตัวอักษรตัวต้นของคำมาเรียงๆกัน แต่บางครั้งฝรั่งเขียนรวบๆเอาก็มี) มาจากคำว่า Fucked Up Beyond Any Recognition” แปลว่า “ชิหายวายป่วงจนดูแม่มไม่ออกแล้ว” ซึ่งน่าจะเริ่มใช้ในกองทัพบกอเมริกันเป็นที่แรก และกระจายออกไปในหลายเหล่า

แต่ก็มีรื่องเล่าในหมู่วิศวกรไฟฟ้าว่า FUBAR(ฟูบาร์) เริ่มใช้พร้อมๆกับคำว่า SNAFU(สนาฟู) ในครั้งที่เริ่มมีโทรศัพ์ในยุคก่อนสงครามโลกครั้งที่สอง เนื่องด้วยเมื่อต้องส่งเจ้าหน้าที่ออกไปซ่อมโทรศัพท์ สัญญาณมักไม่สู้จะดีนัก เสียงอาจฟังขาดๆหายๆไม่ได้ศัพท์ เหล่าช่างจึงสร้างคำที่สามารถเข้าใจกันได้โดยง่ายขึ้น เป็นคำสั้นๆ มีเสียงเฉพาะตัว จับใจความพอได้ก็เอาว่ารู้กัน โดยคำว่า SNAFU นั้นมาจากคำว่า”Situation Normal: All Fucked Up” แปลง่ายๆว่า “เอ้อ! พังหมดแล้วหล่ะ”

หรือก็มีข้อสังเกตุว่า FUBAR อาจกลายมาจากคำว่า Furchtbar ในภาษาเยอรมันซึ่งแปลว่า terrible หรือ น่ากลัวมากๆ โดยทหารอเมริกันได้ยินคำว่า furchtbar จากทหารเยอรมันที่กำลังหนีตายก็จำเอามาพูด แต่ คำนี้(ออกเสียง ฟูชทฺบารฺ) เสียง cht (ชทฺ) ออกเบามาก คนอเมริกัน(ยิ่งเป็นทหารเกณฑ์ด้วยแล้ว)เลยเหมาว่า FUBAR ไปเสีย

Somebody recently wrote in asking how to backup the list of saved passwords in Firefox into a spreadsheet, so I’m writing the solution here for everybody: All you need is the Password Exporter extension.

If you’d like to backup your entire profile including passwords, cookies, bookmarks, etc, you can use this method.

Open up the Add-ons screen and find Password Exporter in the list, where you can click the Options button to bring up the Import/Export Passwords dialog.

You can either import or export your passwords using this dialog, and you can choose to encrypt them if you want.

You can export in either XML or CSV format. If you are trying to create a spreadsheet with all your passwords the CSV file would be a better choice.

Just be very careful with the list of passwords you exported.

Speaking on the occasion of the second anniversary of the airport’s opening, AoT acting president Serirat Prasutanont said more than 80 million people had used the service in the past two years.

Of this, 41.9 million are passengers traveling during October 2006 to September 2007 and 38.5 million during October 2007 to August 2008.

It is expected the number of passengers this year will reach 41.14 million at the end of this month.

He said that air cargo services during the past two years totaled 2.42 million tonnes, with 1.2 million tonnes registered in the first year.

It projected air cargo through the end of this fiscal year would total 1.29 million tonnes.

One hundred eleven airlines currently serve Suvarnabhumi, 97 as passenger airlines and 14 carrying cargo.

During the third year of operations, Mr Serirat said AoT planned to improve design and utility of luggage wheels at the airport to meet international standards.

It would also increase the number of closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitors by 755 from the 1,074 now installed as part of a concerted effort to boost security measures both inside and outside passenger buildings.

“We have targeted making Suvarnabhumi Airport one of the world’s top ten airports with outstanding services in 2009,” he said. (TNA)
